Project Description
The rollator control unit was designed and produced in a small series by IMeTech Engineering for rollators, with a focus on users with Parkinson’s. The aim: a laser that projects a line on the ground when the user is standing still. For people with Parkinson's, this kind of visual guide helps break "freezing" and gives a clear reference for direction and the next step. The system controls the rollator and drives this laser based on motion.
I did the PCB design, firmware and production of a small series. The unit has motion detection, battery monitoring, adjustable parameters and a low-power mode; it is powered by a LiPo that can be charged via USB-C. The result is a compact, practical control unit for rollators in daily use.
